FORMAT | Please format all pieces in Microsoft Word (.doc) file in typed form. If you do not have Microsoft Word, please use the Notepad or Word Pad on your computer. This really helps us out in the editing department! Thanks. As mentioned, please keep your pieces from 200 to 400 words for columns and departments, if you have a feature, 500 to 1000 words.
PHOTOS | BIO We would love to give you recognition (unless you don’t want us to), so please tell us what you want to printed – we don’t want to guess! Please limit to about 25 words. Make sure your contact information is included (website or email address). Along with the few lines about yourself, please send us a photographs – one of yourself and those that pertain or enrich your article. Sometimes it’s difficult to find a photo that says what you want it to say, be mindful of those photos that have embedded watermarks from sites like istockphoto.com, those photos are copyright protected and are for sale. If appropriate, please send photo captions and credits (photographer/website found).
SUBMISSIONS | Submissions should be sent by editorial deadline. Regular mail submissions should be typed double-spaced on 8.5x11” paper, printed on one-side. But please try and email. Please include a self addressed stamped envelope if you would like us to return the manuscript. Please note that the Convenient Shopper Magazine will not be responsible for any lost, damaged, or unsolicited materials.If you would like to be a continuous contributor, which we call ‘staff contributor’, please let us know. Many of our contributors have been with the magazine since it launched and continue to contribute in each issue.
COMPENSATION | Please note that all submissions are made on a volunteer basis. You are not exclusive to write to Convenient Shopper Magazine and can maintain as a freelance writer until we are able to get to a place where you can be paid for your contributions. We are continuously growing and with faith in what God is doing with the publication, I believe that it won’t be long that many of you who have been with us for the duration, will be able to be compensated for your submissions. There are always perks to getting your submission in a magazine.You have a published piece that can be shown to colleagues, family, and friends. It can also be placed in your portfolio for other writing jobs that you may be interested in.If you have a book, product, business or service, there is potential FREE ad space for yourself.
COPYRIGHT | We will assume first publication rights upon acceptance, but authors will retain all future rights. What this means to you is that we request copyright for the first 6 months after the magazine is published. After that, you have full rights. Once you submit your piece to us, you give us the permission to post a portion of the article online for publication in the print edition and digital version of the magazine. A portion of your work may also be used or displayed on the website for six months for the initial publication to help market/promote your great article. Editor’s reserve the right to reject a manuscript at any stage before the publication.
FREELANCE INQUIRIES | Convenient Shopper Magazine welcomes freelance inquiries and is open to a variety of subjects. We love stories of faith, endurance, hope, love, and accomplishments. We are seeking the fresh testimonies and stories that can be brought forth in diversity through words. Whether your specialty is in short story, memos of encouragement, or even poetry, there is a place at Convenient Shopper Magazine for you! We welcome men, women, and the youth to contribute and share what God has put on your heart to convey!
